Information, Communications and Technology

This is an age in which information is a key commodity and the media through which it flows are critical to the delivery of any project, transaction or relationship.  This is particularly true in the case of the public sector, where the provision of information is itself often a primary service and where the protection of personal data and the accessibility of information are both enforced by law.  Public sector bodies are becoming increasingly concerned to protect their intellectual property, both to forestall abuse and to enable the proper exploitation of intellectual property rights.

Our ICT/IP practice brings together lawyers specialising in all these areas.  Its core practice area is advising users and suppliers on major IT outsourcing, procurement and systems development projects. It also advises on all aspects of information law, such as data protection and freedom of information, and on the protection and exploitation of intellectual property.  Within the team are a number of recognised authorities in the areas of e-Government, Freedom of Information, Data Protection and e-Commerce, many of whom are named as leading individuals in the leading directories.

The team’s clients include the Identity and Passports Service, National Offender Management Service and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

For a confidential discussion of any issues in this area, without any obligation and free of charge, please contact Michael Chissick on 020 7861 4000 or email michael.chissick@ffw.com.
