Intellectual Property (IP)

Brand protection and the exploitation of intellectual property used to be the province of private business.  The last ten, and particularly the last five years, have seen a rapid expansion of awareness in the public sector of the need to protect the good reputation of public brands and the potential for exploitation of public sector intellectual property rights.  FFW’s IP practice is one of the UK’s largest, advising both public and private sector clients on all aspects of their intellectual property portfolios including protecting, developing, licensing and enforcing trade marks, patents, copyright and design and other intellectual property rights. This capability includes an in-house trade mark agency which manages a portfolio of over 20,000 marks.

The Department is consistently ranked as a leading IP practice in the annual worldwide surveys conducted by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.
