Sarah Ellson

Sarah qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and joined the Public and Regulatory Law Group in 2000.

She has wide experience of all aspects of the Group’s work, in particular the prosecution of cases before the fitness to practise committees of the General Medical Council.  Her judicial review work has included defending cases brought against the Metropolitan Police Authority and General Medical Council.  Sarah sits as a legal adviser to the General Social Care Council and the General Teaching Council, advising at hearings on all aspects of their procedures.

Sarah has worked for the Learning and Skills Council on its written complaints procedures and with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, reviewing the work of its Licensing Committees and implementing recommendations to ensure a fair process.

Sarah regularly provides bespoke training on acting judicially, fairly and in the interests of justice, and on the giving of reasons.  She has provided training for the General Social Care Council, the General Medical Council, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Actuarial Profession.
