Judith Chrystie
Judith joined the Public and Regulatory Law Group in 2002 having qualified as a solicitor in 1997. Previously, Judith was Director for Conduct at the General Optical Council where she managed disciplinary proceedings against opticians. Owing to her role within a professional regulatory body, Judith has a sound understanding of the internal operations of regulatory bodies. Judith advises on a wide-range of regulatory and public law provisions together with practice-based issues. She handles complex and sensitive cases for bodies such as the General Medical Council and acts as legal adviser for organisations such as the General Social Care Council and the General Teaching Council. She advises public bodies, such as the Metropolitan Police Authority, on their statutory powers and in relation to judicial review claims. In addition, Judith advises commercial clients on a variety of regulatory and public law issues including challenges to public bodies and regulators on the grounds of vires and human rights issues. Judith has recently been responsible for running the largest disciplinary case in the history of the General Medical Council involving seven doctors from a clinic in London.
